This is an original Edinburgh solicitor's archive dating from 1843-1854, comprising 473 covers each franked with the 1841 1d red-brown, some multiples, with range of cancels, shades etc. The stamps are unchecked for plate numbers, so some enjoyable hours of checking should reap rewards for any collector of these issues - there are some 1854 covers so high plate numbers are a possibility! As you can see from the high resolution scans, there are faults but this is normal with such archives. The lot also includes 26 1d pink postal stationery envelopes with various cancels including Maltese Cross. One of the covers is the albino print. Many of the dirty creases can be removed with a soft eraser.
